Refund Policy

Overview

FreeCV.org offers both free and premium services. Our core CV builder remains completely free, but we also offer premium templates and CV website hosting for users who want an extra edge.

Paid purchases are processed securely through Stripe, our payment processor, and through Freemius when Stripe is unavailable. Orders placed before September 2026 may have gone through PayPal, which we no longer use for new purchases. Either way the refund goes back the same way it came. This refund policy covers every paid product and service offered through FreeCV.org.

The short version: 7-day money-back guarantee on all purchases. If you're not satisfied, we'll refund you — simple as that.

Refund Rules by Product

PRO Lifetime ($199 once, $149 founder)

Why this rule: the value of PRO Lifetime is the unlimited downloads + high-limit AI. Once you've taken a download, you've consumed the product.

How to Request a Refund

Requesting a refund is straightforward. Here's what to do:

1. Visit our Contact Page and select "Refund Request" as the subject
2. Include your purchase details: the email address used for payment and the approximate date of purchase
3. Tell us why (optional but helpful) — your feedback helps us improve

That's it. No lengthy forms, no support ticket ping-pong. We aim to acknowledge every refund request within 1 business day.

Exceptions

While we aim to be as generous as possible, there are a few situations where refunds may not be granted:

• Repeated refund abuse: If a pattern of purchasing and immediately requesting refunds is detected, we reserve the right to decline future refund requests
• Fraudulent transactions: Purchases made with stolen payment methods or through other fraudulent means
• Violation of Terms of Service: If your account was suspended due to a breach of our Terms of Service

Even in edge cases, we'll always communicate clearly and give you a chance to respond before making a final decision.

Processing & Timing

Once your refund request is approved, here's what to expect:

• Approval: Within 1–2 business days of your request
• Processing: your payment provider returns the refund within 5–10 business days
• Back to your account: Depending on your bank or payment provider, it may take an additional 3–5 business days to appear on your statement

Refunds are issued to the original payment method used at the time of purchase. We cannot process refunds to a different payment method.

No Subscriptions

Cancelling PRO takes one click, from your dashboard, with no email to write and no retention maze. Cancelling stops the next charge and you keep PRO until the period you already paid for runs out. We do not refund part-used periods, and we do not bill you again after you cancel:

• PRO Monthly / Annual: $19 a month or $108 a year until you cancel
• PRO 3-day trial: $9.99 when you start it, for 3 days of PRO, then $19 a month until you cancel. Cancel before the 3 days end and the $19 is never charged. We email you a reminder a day before the first $19. The $9.99 pays for the 3 days and, like any started period, is not refunded. One trial per person
• PRO Lifetime: one payment, owned forever, never charged again

If you previously had a monthly or yearly subscription from before May 2026, it was canceled and converted to PRO Lifetime free — you keep PRO forever with no further charges.

Our Free Service

Just to be clear: our core CV builder is and always will be free. Premium templates and CV website hosting are optional upgrades. You never need to pay to create, edit, and download a professional CV on FreeCV.org.

If you purchased a premium feature by mistake, let us know and we'll sort it out immediately — no questions asked.
