FreeCV.org is free to use for creating personal CVs. Use it responsibly, don't abuse it, and enjoy building your career. We're here to help job seekers succeed, not to trap you in complicated legal agreements.

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using FreeCV.org (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not access the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service. By using FreeCV.org, you represent that you are at least 13 years old.

Description of Service

FreeCV.org provides a free, online CV (Curriculum Vitae) and resume builder. Our Service allows you to:

  • Create professional CVs using our guided builder
  • Choose from multiple professional templates
  • Customize colors, fonts, and layouts
  • Download your CV as a PDF document
  • Save your progress locally in your browser

FreeCV.org offers a generous free plan and optional paid upgrades. Free users can create, edit, and download CVs at no cost. Paid plans (PRO Lifetime and BRAND) unlock additional templates, higher AI limits, and premium features like DOCX export and portfolio hosting. See our Upgrade page for current plan details.

Acceptable Use

We want FreeCV.org to be helpful for everyone. Please use it responsibly.

You May

  • Create CVs for personal job applications
  • Create multiple versions of your CV
  • Share your downloaded CVs with employers
  • Use the Service from any device
  • Access the Service without creating an account

You May Not

  • Use automated scripts or bots to access the Service
  • Attempt to disrupt or overload our systems
  • Create CVs with false or fraudulent information
  • Use the Service for illegal purposes
  • Resell or commercially redistribute our Service

Fair Usage Policy

We built FreeCV to help real people land real jobs. This policy exists to keep the service fast and reliable for everyone who uses it.

What counts as normal use

Your account includes generous daily limits that cover the way real people actually use a CV builder. You can create multiple versions of your CV, run ATS scans against job descriptions, use the AI assistant to improve your content, and download PDFs throughout your job search. The vast majority of users will never come close to hitting a limit.

PRO Lifetime users get significantly higher caps than free users. These limits reset daily and are designed to support even the most active job seekers applying to dozens of positions per week.

What we consider abuse

There are a few things that fall outside normal use and put strain on the service for everyone else:

  • Running automated scripts, bots, or headless browsers against our platform. This includes anything that generates requests without a real person clicking buttons in a browser.
  • Sharing your account credentials with other people. Each account is for one person. If we see login patterns from multiple locations simultaneously on a regular basis, we may reach out to verify.
  • Using the service to bulk generate CVs for commercial resale. FreeCV is for building your own career documents, not for running a resume writing business through our infrastructure.
  • Deliberately circumventing rate limits or usage caps through technical workarounds, multiple accounts, or any other method.
  • Reverse engineering, scraping, or extracting data from the platform for use in other products or services.

What happens if you go over a limit

If you hit a daily limit, you will see a friendly message letting you know. Your limits reset automatically, usually within 24 hours. There is no penalty for occasionally reaching a cap during a busy day of job applications.

If we detect patterns that look like automated abuse or account sharing, we will contact you first to discuss it. We do not suspend accounts without warning unless the activity is clearly malicious.

For persistent violations after a warning, we reserve the right to restrict AI features, reduce rate limits, or in extreme cases suspend the account. We will always explain why and give you a chance to respond.

Our right to adjust limits

We may adjust the specific daily limits from time to time as we monitor costs and usage patterns. If we make a significant change that would affect how you normally use the service, we will notify you in advance through email or an in-app notice. We will never reduce limits to a point where normal, human use of the builder becomes impractical.

Your Content

When you use FreeCV.org, you create content (your CV information, uploaded photos, etc.). Here's what you should know:

  • You own your content. Everything you create belongs to you.
  • Your content stays on your device. We don't store your CV data on our servers.
  • You're responsible for your content. Ensure the information you include is accurate and truthful.
  • Don't include sensitive data. Avoid putting highly sensitive information (like government ID numbers) in your CV.

Important: Because your data is stored locally in your browser, clearing your browser data or using a different device will result in loss of your saved CV. Download your CV regularly to keep a backup.

Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content (excluding user-generated content), features, and functionality are owned by FreeCV.org and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Our CV templates are provided for personal use. You may use them to create CVs for your own job applications. You may not extract, copy, or redistribute the templates themselves for commercial purposes.

Your CVs

The CVs you create using our Service belong to you. You're free to use, share, and distribute your generated CVs however you wish.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. FreeCV.org makes no warranties, expressed or implied, regarding:

  • The availability or uptime of the Service
  • That the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted
  • The accuracy of AI-generated content (like summaries)
  • Your success in obtaining employment using our CVs
  • Compatibility with all devices or browsers

We do our best to provide a reliable, helpful service, but we cannot guarantee perfect performance at all times.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FreeCV.org shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of profits, data, or other intangible losses
  • Damages resulting from your use or inability to use the Service
  • Damages resulting from unauthorized access to your data
  • Any other matter relating to the Service

Since our Service is provided free of charge, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to zero dollars ($0).

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. When we do, we'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

By continuing to access or use our Service after revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, please stop using the Service.
