Avoid generic answers about being "eclectic." Name your primary model, explain how it informs formulation and intervention, and give a real example of how you've applied it. Then describe when you'd draw on a different approach.

This question tests self-awareness and supervision use. Be honest about the challenge — maybe vicarious trauma, a stuck case, or a countertransference issue — and describe how you sought support and what you learned.
5How do you approach formulation when presenting problems are complex and overlapping?
Describe your formulation model (5Ps, CBT cross-sectional, psychodynamic formulation, etc.), how you develop it collaboratively with the client, and how you use it to guide intervention priorities rather than jumping straight to technique.

How to Tailor Your CV

NHS Trusts hiring clinical psychologists need your HCPC registration and DClinPsy qualification right at the top of your CV, followed by your specialist competencies (neuropsychology, CAMHS, forensic, etc.) and any specific therapeutic training (EMDR accreditation, schema therapy training). Private healthcare providers (Priory, Cygnet, Elysium) look for experience with complex or inpatient populations and CPA experience. Corporate wellbeing and EAP providers (BUPA, Cigna, Unmind) want short-term model experience (typically 6 to 8 sessions CBT) and volume throughput. Academic and research posts need publication record, grant experience, and university teaching hours listed clearly.
