A template for SLTs who unlock communication and transform lives.
Speech and language therapists assess and treat communication disorders, swallowing difficulties, voice problems, and language delays in children and adults. They work in NHS hospitals, community health services, schools, private clinics, care homes, and research settings, reporting to a clinical lead or service manager. A typical week involves initial assessments, one-to-one therapy sessions, parent or carer training, report writing for education and social care, and attending MDT meetings with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and consultants. Caseloads typically run to 30–60 clients depending on setting.

Figures in USD. Ranges reflect mid-level experience (3–7 years). Senior roles and major metro areas typically sit at the top of these bands.
NHS community and acute trusts, Affinity Trust, Mencap, Priory Group, and private paediatric clinics all hire speech and language therapists. NHS roles require HCPC registration and RCSLT membership — list both. Mencap and Affinity Trust work predominantly with adults with learning disabilities and autism, so AAC experience and PECS training are highly relevant. Private paediatric clinics often expect broader caseload experience and the ability to see clients outside standard hours. The Priory Group focuses on mental health and acquired neurological conditions — dysphagia and aphasia experience stands out there.
